I learned many new things about prayer this unit. Before this unit, I wasn't really aware that there were different ways of praying besides the normal idea of prayer. I found it nice to learn that you didn't just have to sit by your bed and talk to God, but you can actually do other things. For example, you can listen to music, or do different types of prayer. We did an ACTs prayer in class, where each letter is a different type of theme for that prayer. I found it refreshing to learn that many different things you do can count as prayer, and you can strengthen your relationship with God.
I can see myself implementing good deeds and song prayer. I like to keep others happy, and I think I could do good deeds to do this. They do not have to be big deeds, they can be little ones. For example, I can pay for someone's coffee when they do not have enough money to pay for their's. I also love listening to music. I listen to music when I wake up, when I get home from school, and even before I go to sleep. It calms me and I feel more focused when I do so, and I just love listening to it. I could definitely include songs in prayer in my life and I think I would enjoy it.
From the Caste For Christ, I got many messages. The movie put a lot of messages across for trust and loving one another, along with staying true to each other. Leslie in the movie gets into Christ, and her husband, Lee, is atheist and does not like the idea of his wife doing this. The whole movie they would argue about her decision to go to Church and praise Jesus. Eventually Lee let her believe and even began to believe himself. They stayed true to each other as husband and wife and kept loving each other, even throughout the hard times.
From this unit, I mainly took away the meditation and the movie. The meditation was really refreshing, especially for when I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed with school or life. The movie took up a couple classes. Sometimes religion movies can tend to be a little repetitive and sometimes boring, but I felt this movie was really good. It kept me engaged and stayed interesting. I enjoyed watching the movie and I hope we can do more of this throughout the year.
